Author David Wagoner was born in Ohio. He received a B.A. from Penn State, where he later taught, and where he came under the charismatic influence of Theodore Roethke. From his position at the University of Washington, Wagoner has created an inconspicuous but remarkable body of work, including novels, stories, and especially poems.
